What a week. 200 riders and horses gathered at Bungendore showground for the annual Zone 16 Pony Club Camp. Nine of our Wamboin riders – Vicki, Caitlin, Zoe, Ellie, Matthew, Sammi, Ben, Sarah and 5 year old Kayla our youngest rider were there, and what a fun week it was. Everyone is split into troops of about 10 riders made up of members of all the local (zone 16) Pony Clubs. The day starts with feeding you horse then after grabbing a hearty breakfast from the kitchen horses are prepared and the morning riding session split into two and riders do various sessions in jumping, flatwork, dressage, cross country and many other riding skills. After lunch there are two more sessions and this goes on for 5 days so riders gain some valuable practical experience from a number of guest instructors. Camp is an exhausting yet rewarding time. Riders and parents have great fun the the nights around the campfire allow all to get to know each other many of us come to camp year after year. All our Wamboin group had a great time. Thanks to all the parents who helped make the camp happen and helped out on kitchen duty. Congratulations to Ben and Matthew who won the “Troop Person” awards for their groups – a credit to our club and to all the other Wamboin riders who gained their proficiency certificates well done. See you all at camp next year !
