WPC at Zone MG Champs

Emma makes sure in the Spillers Race

Wamboin Riders (plus Will Golding from Geary's Gap and his pony Mickey) represented their club in true Wamboin PC style over the wekend of July 3 and 4 at the Zone 16 Mounted Games Championships. With 4 teams representing 80% of our riding members it was a great club spirit that pervaded the weekend.

Whilst there were a few spills and misses - all part of competition nervous energy - every team showed improvement over the two days in every race. The Warriors (in Division 1) qualified in every event and recorded the fastest times of anyone in Spillers and the Tyre Race (dead heating with the CRC Fab 5) and placed second overall in Div 1. The WHIPS (Division 2, finishing 5th) achieved four state qualifying times and were just out side in two others (Postmans and Five Flag) - will they be going to Zone 28 to try for the others????

Both the Wallabies and the Wranglers were in Division 4. Did I mention that the Wranglers took out 3rd place in the best presented competition - well done ladies! The Wallabies ended up with 2 state qualifying times (Five Flag and Hi Lo) and missed a third in Stepping Stone by a whisker. They rode well for a team that did not get the chance to train altogether and looked to be having great fun, finishing 2nd overall in Div 4. The Wranglers made a state time in the Tyre Race and were just shy of two other state times in Stepping Stone and the Balloon Race. They consolidated on Sunday and came home strong in Division 4 to finish 3rd overall.

All the photos at present are thanks to Catherine Daniels, but I am sure the two Peters and Steve Quick will have a few more great photos to be added soon.

All official times and results are up on the Zone 16 website for anyone who is interested.
